1. What is the Department of Finance and Banking?
The Department of Finance and Banking is an undergraduate program that introduces students to the structure and functioning of financial institutions both in Turkey and around the world, including those in the public and private sectors, with a particular focus on the banking system. In this program, students learn how the funding needs of individuals and institutions are met, how these funds can be used efficiently, and how value maximization can be achieved as a result.
Students who choose the Department of Finance and Banking take foundational courses in accounting, economics, and statistics during their four-year education. After successfully completing these core courses, they proceed to study subjects directly related to their field. In the Finance and Banking program, students are provided with detailed knowledge of financial markets and institutions, as well as the banking system. As specialization courses, the program includes topics such as firm and project valuation, risk management, the time value of money, and derivative markets and instruments. In their final two years of study, students also have the opportunity to complete a 40-day internship at leading institutions in the sector by making use of the facilities provided by our university.
The department, which also includes courses on new trends emerging in the developing world, provides students with comprehensive knowledge of both the history and the future of the finance and banking fields. Graduates who successfully complete the program can be employed in various financial institutions across the public and private sectors.
