History
The Department of Finance and Banking, operating under Balıkesir University, began admitting students in the 2009–2010 Academic Year under the name Department of Banking and Finance within the Burhaniye School of Applied Sciences. Established to educate the qualified human resources needed by the finance sector, the department has adopted a practice-oriented education approach since its foundation. It has developed an academic structure that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application in the fields of banking, capital markets, and financial management.
Pursuant to Article 30 (Supplementary) of the Higher Education Institutions Organization Law No. 2809, published in the Official Gazette dated March 4, 2022, the Burhaniye School of Applied Sciences was transformed into a faculty. Accordingly, as of the 2022–2023 Academic Year, the department has continued its educational activities under the Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences.
